Mark “Brrmm” Brougham 800 Senior Club Games
This Saturday at 12.30pm Mark becomes the third player to achieve 800 Senior Club games for our club when he suits up for Division 4 vs Sturt at Mortlock Park.
Mark came to the Indians whilst at Edwardstown Primary School and has been here ever since in a number of on and off field roles.
He has served on committee more years than not, has had 2 terms as President as well as coaching junior & senior teams and also helps out at Little League on Friday Nights. Mark presided over the drought breaking Division 1 Premiership in 2000 (our first in 43 years).
In 1999, Mark was instrumental in negotiating and securing approval for the relocation of our Main Diamond to its current location for the 1999 Australasian Masters Games which many see as a watershed moment in our more recent history.
In Mark’s Division 1 career he played as a solid left fielder and a consistent hitter.
In our tilt at the Div 1 Premiership in the 1989-90 season, Brrmm was named the Indians Finals Series MVP; highlighted by hitting a key 2-run Home Run off Woodville’s gun pitcher in the Prelim Final which sealed our come from behind win and earned the Indians a Grand Final berth that season.
In his Division 5 days he played wherever needed both infield and outfield and a on the mound….. and was one of their leading hitters for many years whilst helping the boys win many a premiership.
Mark is a Life Member who continues to work tirelessly for our Club as a Vice Patron and is also a current SABL Board Director (his second stint on the Board of our peak body).
Through his own business he has been a big supporter of our club both financially and employment wise which has been greatly appreciated and is currently a Club Sponsor.
Mark has played;
Div 1 – 206 games
Div 2 – 64
Div 3 – 71
Div 4 – 86
Div 5 – 353
Div 6 – 16
Div 7 – 3
On behalf of all members and supporters of the Goodwood Indians congratulations on reaching this amazing milestone. Thank you for such a huge contribution to our Club we look forward to many milestones and Premierships along the way.
